Alchymia Distillery Newsletter August 2024

by | Aug 12, 2024

Hello Spirit Lovers,

Can you believe that we are already in August !! What an amazing autumn and winter we have had up here on the NW Coast of Tassie the Tasting Room and Distillery has continued to see a steady flow of locals and tourists which has been great for our little distillery.

1st Whisky Release

Our 1st Tasmanian Single Malt Single Cask – ‘Exordium Series I Bourbon’ was released early April Exordium is latin for ‘the beginning or introduction of’ so was a fitting name of our very first Tasmanian Whisky made here on site with passion and patience. Our first 4 casks are all Ex Heavens Hill Bourbon Casks so will all be released under Series I Bourbon. Then before the end of the year we have Oloroso, Maderia and Tawny Port Casks which will be released under Exordium Series II, III & IV!
The launch party was an exciting mile stone for us as distillers and a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the evening it was with a huge sigh of relief when everyone enjoyed our 1st Single Malt Single Cask release and then bought bottles to take home!

We still have a few bottles of our 1st and 2nd Release left so if you would like to order a bottle drop me a note and we’ll ship it out to you! info@alchymiadistillery.com

The Gin Station

The Gin Station was a popular event again this PTT and MPH had one session full of ladies so of course his cheeky charm had them all in laughter with people in the tasting room wondering what on earth was going on in the distillery!!

Winter Closure

We have lots of jobs to get done before the season reignites in Oct so we are closing the Distillery and Tasting Room August 19th thru to Sept 6th so if anyone wants any Whisky for Fathers Day please call prior to the 19th August.

Our online Gin Shop

Open with our 2 core Gins available to order on line London Dry and Ginger and Lemongrass Gin both available to order online on a tab on the website www.alchymiadistillery.com so if you have run out of your favourite Alchymia Distillery Gin and can’t make it to the tasting room then head online.

Oysters & Cheese at Alchymia Distillery

On the Trail Graze weekend in April we welcomed Tarkine Oysters and La Cantara Cheese to the distillery to do a local produce pairing event – Cheese & Whisky and Oysters & Gin what’s not to love!! We saw 97 people in 4 hours and the feedback was amazing so we are going again for this years Tulip Season so follow the link below to book your tickets now as this will sell out.

Permission to Trespass

June in Wynyard and Table Cape was anything but quiet this year with our 2nd year of Permission to Trespass (PTT) this year was bigger and better than last year and had a real buzz about it with 9 events being held locally throughout June. We launched a new Whisky Experience our Premium Whisky Tastings in the Bond Store was a huge success pairing 3 of our Single Malt Single Cask Whiskies with amuse bouche of local produce while hearing from MPH about the maturation process and how and why we select our different casks both dates sold out and we offered it again in August. Stay tuned for further dates.

Above: Cathryn our 1st Alchemist Academy Private Cask Experience Graduation!!!

We were delighted to decant Cathryn’s private cask for her late May. Cathryn was our first Alchemist to purchase a private cask from us and she joined us for a day in June to decide what ABV she was going to bottle ‘Muddled’ at she decided on 53% and ended up with 50 bottles to enjoy with family and friends. Cathryn then joined us again to make her second cask this time a 50ltr Tawny Port cask called Confuzzed!! Cathryn said “Dear Sarah and Matt, How do I express my thanks without waxing lyrical. You have developed an incomparable experience for the whisky lover”.

Cheers Cathryn we look forward to seeing you soon to taste how Confuzzed is going!!
