Alchymia Distillery @ Table Cape March 11th Update
Wow what a start! Well we finally opened our doors at Alchymia Distillery to the public on the 21st January. 6 yrs after our dream was born right here in Tassie and what a start it has been. We’ve been lucky enough to have lots of local supporters visiting the tasting room over the first 5 weeks and have seen an upturn in interstate visitors in the last 2 weeks, with our first international customers visiting today!
We’ve already seen repeat customers bringing back their empty bottles to be replaced with full ones and we’ve had whisky royalty visit & famous chefs give us the tick of approval and 2 film crews!
The tasting room is just beautiful but we haven’t stopped there, with the weather continuing to be very warm we have opened the customer garden and barrel bar this weekend so once you’ve have done a tasting and a tour you can sit and relax with a G&T or a beer and the most amazing cheese platters featuring Red Cow Organics cheese will be served on Sundays.
In the distillery we have made our first whisky wash and we are waiting anxiously for the ferment to ‘do its thing’ so that we can run our first whisky through the still and as a result of our amazing combination still (thank you Peter Bailey) what would usually be waste from our whisky run means that we will also produce our first barley Vodka! We are in discussions with a cider producer to do a collaboration on an apple Brandy before the end of the year and the Gin seasonal recipes are coming on well!
The dogs are getting used to all the visitors, long may that continue!
Tasmanian Whisky week has been announced for 2022 for the 8th to 14th August, and we are looking to do a ticketed event on Saturday 13th so keep an eye on socials for the details and to book your tickets it will be a ripper!
Hope to see you soon Sarah & Matt Alchymia Distillery!
